by joining Junior Earn a Bike (ages 7-8) or Earn a Bike (ages 9-18). Once involved, you'll have access to all of our programs, listed below, until you graduate high school. Programs are offered at our downtown Allentown and East Allentown bike shops and in schools in Allentown and Bethlehem. All programs are free!
We are now accepting applications for our online Winter 2021 Earn a Bike sessions. Each class is held Monday-Friday for two weeks.
Register for Earn a Bike here:
In Junior Earn a Bike, 7-8 year-olds learn about reading, riding, and wrenching. At the end of 12 weeks, students earn their bike, a new helmet, and several books!
Earn a Bike connects kids ages 9-18 with lessons on bike mechanics and safety. After 12 weeks, students earn their refurbished bike and a new helmet!
Earn a Book students read stories and do homework with Cedar Crest College tutors. On a trip to a local bookstore, students pick books of their own!
Drop-In is open every weekday after school, and earlier on days there's no school. Come fix bikes, play games, have a healthy snack and hang with friends.
From April to November, students of all riding abilities ride together on Lehigh Valley trails, have lunch, and experience the joys of cycling!
Advanced cyclists can participate in track cycling at the Velodrome, long-distance road riding with the Lehigh Wheelmen, and mountain biking with Lehigh Valley Interscholastic Cycling
Once you're 12, you can apply to be a youth volunteer in Earn a Bike, helping new students learn bike skills. Youth volunteers who are 14 can apply to be a paid youth apprentice!
Teens can join our Youth Leadership seminars: Each fall focuses on college and careers, each spring project gets you involved in your community, and each summer is storytelling--like filmmaking!
Long-term Community Bike Works students are invited to participate in our one-on-one mentoring program, which offers support in academics, social and emotional skill-building, and basic needs.
We regularly bring special projects to Bike Works, from Da Vinci Science Center's Inventors' Lab to our ongoing Poetry Club. And we take special field trips, from IronPigs baseball games to the Youth Bike Summit in New York City.
Our Girls' Night Earn a Bike class allows girls and female-identifying youth to participate in a class taught by our team of women mechanics and mentors. Contact Hana at 610.820.9927 to learn more.
We also have an annual student scholarship program for students who completed Earn a Bike who are now going off to college or technical school. Is this you? Contact James at 610.434.1140 for details.
In non-COVID times, Earn a Bike sessions begin in February, June, and September.
Classes are generally held once a week from 6-8 pm.
To join us, fill out an application below and return to one of our bike shops. Call 610.434.1140 with questions.
