by joining Junior Earn a Bike (ages 7-8) or Earn a Bike (ages 9-18). Once involved, you'll have access to all of our programs until you graduate high school. Programs are offered at our downtown Allentown and East Allentown bike shops and in schools in Allentown and Bethlehem. All programs are free!
Earn a Bike and Junior Earn a Bike are back in-person! We're offering our camp-model, three-week classes now through the end of 2021 at our two Allentown bike shops. Easton programs are currently held at different locations around the city, and we hope to move in to our Spruce Street bike shop soon!
Earn a Bike connects youth ages 9-18 with mentors to learn lessons in bike mechanics and safety. While learning tool use, bike repair, and safe riding, students also practice life skills including communication, teamwork, and perseverance. Online Earn a Bike connects students with these skills through instructional videos, online classroom activities, and weekly online hangouts with mentors and friends. Students are encouraged, but not required, to join us for an in-person bike safety rodeo or other rides. When students complete the program, they earn their refurbished bike and a new helmet!
In Junior Earn a Bike, second- and third-graders practice social-emotional learning while learning about reading, riding, and wrenching. Junior Earn a Bike students learn that, just as building a bike requires tools and parts, building a healthy emotional life requires social and emotional tools they can learn to use. Online Junior Earn a Bike offers these same lessons through instructional videos and at-home activities, which students can do with an adult in their home. Students are also invited to participate in optional in-person riding days, where they can practice their riding skills with their instructor’s help. At the end of the program, students earn their bike, a new helmet, and several books!
