At Community Bike Works, there are so many fun ways to stay connected to mentors and friends. Once you're earning your bike, you can join us for rides on local trails, or join our mountain biking team. Youth leaders go on college visits and make their own films. Youth apprentices get paid to help in our bike shops!
Interested in cycling or youth leadership, but haven't earned a bike yet? Register for Earn a Bike or JrEAB to begin your Bike Works journey!
From March through November, students of all riding abilities ride together on Lehigh Valley trails, have lunch, and experience the joys of cycling!
Students take their cycling game to the next level by joining a mountain biking team with Coach Adonis and Lehigh Valley Interscholastic Cycling! We even built our own trail in Allentown's Keck Park.
Thanks to community partnerships, advanced cyclists can participate in track cycling at the Velodrome and long-distance road riding with the Lehigh Wheelmen!
Drop-In is open every weekday after school, and earlier on days there's no school. Come fix bikes, play games, have a healthy snack and hang with friends.
Earn a Book students read stories and do homework with Cedar Crest College tutors. On a trip to a local bookstore, students pick books of their own!
In 2022, the Youth Advisory Council was formed to give our students more of a voice within Community Bike Works. Working alongside the Board of Directors, peer-elected YAC members are able to help make decisions that affect the day-to-day of the organization.
Teens can join our Youth Leadership seminars: Each fall focuses on college and careers, each spring project gets you involved in your community, and each summer is storytelling--like filmmaking!
Once you're 12, you can apply to be a youth volunteer in Earn a Bike, helping new students learn bike skills. Youth volunteers who are 14 can apply to be a paid youth apprentice!
Participating in our democracy is important to our organization. By voting, we let our elected officials know we have a stake in their decisions and show our students we are engaged citizens! View our Voter Guide.
We regularly bring special projects to Bike Works, from Da Vinci Science Center's Inventors' Lab to bike rides at local parks. And we take special field trips, from IronPigs baseball games to the national Youth Bike Summit.
Our Girls' Night Earn a Bike class allows girls to participate in a class taught by our team of women mechanics and mentors. Contact Sadie at 610.820.9927 to learn more.
We also have an annual student scholarship program for students who completed Earn a Bike who are now going off to college or technical school. Is this you? Contact James at 610.434.1140 for details.
