Community Bike Works strives to be an organization that is not just non-racist, but actively anti-racist. We pledge to continually evaluate how to dismantle racism within our own organization, while stepping up to help end the racial injustices in our community.
We call for an end to inequitable school funding that educates our children based on the ZIP code in which they were born. We call for an end to public health disparities that provide the young people of Allentown fewer opportunities to grow up healthy and protected. We call for an end to housing discrimination, homelessness, and poverty. We call for an end to mass incarceration and the school-to-prison pipeline. We call for an end to police brutality - and a move to restorative justice.
We stand with the Lehigh Valley organizations, led by Black and Latinx leaders, that are fighting for justice, including Lehigh Valley Stands Up, Make the Road Pennsylvania - Allentown, POWER Lehigh Valley, and Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley. We stand with all members of the community who are fighting for Black lives.
Our hearts are with the Community Bike Works students and families who are hurting. We stand with you.
Black Lives Matter.
We are advocates for criminal justice reform because of the inequitable practices that disproportionately impact, convict, and incarcerate people of color. Because of these values, we are particularly distressed by COVID-19 in the congregate setting of the jail.
